For the month of October, we are partnering with the Movemeant Foundation, and donating 10% of all sales to this wonderful nonprofit.
The Movemeant Foundation works to "enable young women to feel confident about their bodies by empowering them with the tools to be active. By using fitness and physical movement as the primary platform for social change, we strive to be a catalyst for creating a new era of healthy, strong and self-assured young women".
Having two daughters, I have long recognized the need to teach the girls to have a healthy body image, which can be challenging in a time when social media is constantly bombarding us with photoshopped pictures of perfection.
We love playing tennis as a family, and enjoy long walks around our neighborhood. At first, our younger daughter only wanted to do what our oldest was doing. Now, even she is becoming more interested in her own sports and activities. Our afternoons are filled with tennis lessons, ballet, and other sports throughout the year. We are hoping for snow this winter so we can do some skiing as well! I have noticed that since becoming active in sports, both of my girls seem more confident in themselves, and are proud of their new skills and strength.
I am extremely excited to be supporting the Movemeant Foundation for the month of October. I love organizations committed to empowering others, especially this one which is teaching young women about positive body image through sports and exercise. One of their current initiatives is a middle school program in which curriculums are available for middle school youth, and schools can apply to be a part of this program. For 14 weeks girls learn about topics such as self-talk, body myths, and choosing positive role models with the intention of creating a world where everyone can feel beautiful. Wonderful!
